I've noticed a lot of new people lately. And it has been several months since I waived hi and asked people what they are looking for in content here. So new folks, please say hi and how you heard of my little corner of the internet, and all-y'all if you have something you'd like to hear my 2 cents on speak now or forever (about 2-3 months) hold your homekeys.

I heard about you from James Enge.
My interests lie mainly in knowing how agents think, as I'm in the very early stages of querying for a novel I've recently completed. So, I read your entries mainly to learn more about the agenting process and the publishing world in general.

I'm looking for an agent. I thought it might be nice to say I found you some other way than by going up or down some alphabetical list. So, I snoop around LJ.
I find agent blogs informative but discouraging. From what you all are selling, My project looks a bit off the current market. I'm wondering about letting the Princess chill out awhile, maybe white the next two, until the readership feels less gloomy. My kids are rather happy and care-free, except for the threat to Earth's civilization they have to deal with.
So, with agents, I guess what I'd most like to know is, what the market is doing, and if you're selling anything like the Princess.
Without knowing what Princess is like it's hard to say.
Remember that for the average agent out of what comes in to us: 80% is completely unsellable. 10% might be sellable but the writer probably doesn't have the attention to detail or flair to do it. 7% is possibly sellable, but is outside what that agent sells or would take LOTS of effort to sell. 1.8% Is sellable, but the writer is BFN or just difficult, or has already signed with someone else .10% is spam, and the rest is something we hope to sell.
