Here's the latest rendering of the cover for This Crooked Way

For those who just won't buy a book without knowing what's inside the nice folks at Pyr have posted the first three chapters of The Blood of Ambrose to their website.

The Blood of Ambrose is now available from Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

For those of you who already know and love the writing of James Enge, there is now a new taste online at Pyr's website. For those who have yet to have the pleasure; first hit is free.

I'm told both Amazon & B&N have Blood of Ambrose in stock. I'm also told that the delivery gremlins are not horsing around in delivering author & contributor copies.

James Enge has sold a second sequel to the forthcoming The Blood Of Ambrose. April twenty first will be the first time you can get your hands on The Blood of Ambrose, and the recently turned in sequel This Crooked Way is due on shelves this October.

Finally! I saw the preview I wasn't allowed to share, and now, there is this cover final and one for all to look at. I tried to get a larger image into the post, but apparently Picsa, myself, and LiveJournal aren't a good mix.

Here's the Picsa link. And I'm sure you've all preordered already so I won't point out that large preorders make editors happy, and being happy makes them much more pliable when I twist their arms for additional books and better terms.

The nice folks at Audible have let me know that the audio version of James Enge's debut novel The Blood of Ambrose is scheduled to be released on April 21st.

James Enge has turned in the sequel to his soon to be best loved Blood Of Ambrose to Pyr. The sequel is currently titled This Crooked Way. 

I'm merrily slushing again now that i have a working computer to do it with.
Rumor has it that James Enge is closing in on the end of sequel to Blood of Ambrose. Dave Freer has said that he has finished the construction of Dragons Ring and will be turning it in soon.

Meb's morning began with a thunderous knocking. She had barely sat up in bed when the scowling innkeeper burst in... with the daughter who had waited on them and run Meb's bath. He appeared to holding her by the ear. She was in tears.

Meb hadn't actually had enough experience of waking up in inns to be absolutely sure that this wasn't the normal way you were roused, if Finn hadn't woken you and had you slip out in the darness. But it did seem odd.

Díleas -- whose experience of beds, let alone inns, had to be less than hers, let her know he thought so too. He growled, sounding, for a half-grown pup, quite alarming.

It wasn't enough to make an impression on the Innkeeper. "Boy, where is your master?" he demanded.

She blinked. "In his bed, I should think."

"Ha! It's not been slept in!" said the Innkeeper damningly.

Meb gaped at him, and piled out of bed herself, pushed past him and ran to see, Díleas at her heels, bouncing in delight.

The bed had plainly not even been sat on. And the window was open. It was bitterly cold in there. The larger bag he carried was still there, leaning against the wall. Looking at it Meb found the only relief to scavenged from the neatly made and turned down bed.

"Where is he?" she demanded fiercely of the Innkeeper. "What have you done with my master? Tell me!"

"Me?" The innkeeper was plainly rocked in his tracks by the savagery of her demand. "I've done nothing with him. It's what you've done my innocent young daughter, you serpent!"

"Your daughter! I've done nothing to your daughter." Behind her father's back the pretty apple-cheeked young woman looked at her imploringly.

"Oh yes you have, you vile deciever. She's admitted the whole of it to me. Her mother and I found her bed with a bolster in it and we were waiting for her when she came sneaking in. She tried to put the blame on your master first to protect you! That's when we discovered he was missing and the whole truth came out. You seduced her with lies and promises when she took you up to your bath."

"What!?"

"This wicked girl admits she spent the night with you, and that you satisfied your carnal lusts on her, having beguiled her with your promises," said the Innkeeper triumphantly. "You'll have to marry her and make an honest women of her now. You offered her that! I'll see you make it good, you young limb."

For those of you who won't be satisfied with buying twenty or thirty printed copies of James Enge's Blood of Ambrose, it will be available from Audible as well. I'll let you know when it is available.

So, I was struck by an inspiration to go spelunking on Amazon to look for upcoming books. After wandering around a bit I looked to see if the cover art for James  Enge's Blood of Ambrose was up yet.



As you can see, it is.

What is this world coming to when I like cover art?

Black Gate who have published a couple of James Enge's stories has put up issue #12 on their site for free. http://www.blackgate.com/ This issue just happens to include one of James Enge's tales. With luck I'll have time to read it on the flight to Denver.

The OnyxHawke Agency has sold the print and e-book rights for James Enge's The Blood of Ambrose and a sequel to Pyr Books. Shorter works set in this world have appeared in Black Gate and Flashing Sword. James Enge was signed to the OnyxHawke Agency after the agencies Masochism Monday read and review event. The Blood of Ambrose is expected to be published in the first half of 2009.
